SYNOPSIS

‘Love & Betrayal’ is a thrilling ‘Pride & Prejudice’ continuation story, which continues the much-beloved Austen novel from the evening of Darcy and Elizabeth’s wedding night. They are deeply in love and about to consummate their marriage vows – only they are abruptly interrupted by news of the most terrible kind.

Georgiana has been kidnapped under the cover of darkness from Darcy’s carriage – and no one knows where she might be now, nor what harm might have befallen her. But who could be behind her kidnapping and what do they want?

And how can Darcy and Elizabeth’s fledgling marriage survive through such terrible strain?

‘Having no time to lose and feeling desperate to be off, Darcy quickly turned to Elizabeth then and briefly took her hand within his own to press a swift kiss on her knuckles. “Goodbye, Elizabeth,” he murmured quietly; “I’m so sorry to have to leave you like this. I’ll send word if I can.” And with these words, he abruptly departed, swiftly remounting his stallion before riding off into the night as if he were being pursued by the devil himself.’

This story is a long read, at approximately 100,000 words long, and it contains scenes of a sexual nature and references to violence.

Breathtaking

So delighted to see a new novel by E Bradshaw, as they are always good. This book contains a wild ride to recover a kidnapped Georgiana. Elizabeth is stouthearted and brilliant. Darcy is irrascable (due to his overwhelming fear for his loved ones.) The malevolence behind the kidnapping is shocking. I won't spoil the surprise. I definitely recommend that you read this, with all haste!

The real reason...

to never get married !!! Darcy should have guessed what Elizabeth had already surmised - Lady Catherine had plans for her... not good plans, but plans for woe! just as plain as the writing on the wall - No !!! Yes !!! did Lady Catherine really have a gilded family tree painted on the wall at Rosings? and what was the last entry but Darcy and a line to Anne de Bourgh !!! this story was a race from start to ending. a joyous beginning, an interrupted wedding night, a young couple's early marriage disagreements, a meddlesome family, a wonderfully clever Colonel Fitzwilliam, and just enough hope for ODC and their HEA. great read !!!

What do we do now that we are married?

A story which has lots and lots of Lizzy and Darcy time but isn’t really a Lizzy/Darcy story. The Regency Era was the last time the aristocracy held ALL the power in England. From now on there we’re going to be more and more obscenely wealthy men who didn’t derive their wealth from the land. Also a middle class was being birthed. The Gardiners were member of this new class. This is not obvious to the people living there. It’s only obvious to historians. So this is aristocracies last hurrah and they like it is. The rich are gambling their wealth away. The rich are addicted to all sorts new drugs. The rich are sleeping around and passing STDs to each other. The rich are not taking care of their stealings. This is a story oh having to deal with an evil aristocrat who has nothing external to control her evil except her family. The story is about Lady Catherine. Good action story. A case could be it’s a good horror story also. She doesn’t have a hatchet. She doesn’t have a chainsaw. She doesn’t have a conscience but does have hate...and a basketful of money. The most deadliest weapon on earth.

An interesting and enjoyable adventure

This story starts gently lulling the reader into a false sense of security before we are dragged off at breakneck speed on a tense adventure. This pace is maintained to about the halfway mark when the story changes pace as the results of the mystery after unpacked. There is romance but it plays second fiddle to adventure for much of the story. For me the second half of the story was a little drawn out and hence the dropped star. I am also not a great fan of footnotes in a novel but that is just a personal choice and did not detract from the enjoyment of the story. The cover is perfect for the story and really stands out from the crowd. This is mostly error-free with just a few places where words and terms are misused. This does not detract from the enjoyment of the story.
